OUR WORLD OUR PEOPLE

The subject, Our World and Our People (OWOP), is a body of knowledge that responds to the need to have a dedicated curriculum provision in Ghana’s
schools with the aim of nurturing learners into honest, creative and responsible citizens. Learners being exposed to the learning areas within this curriculum,
will be imbued with the positive attitudes, values and essential skills to address the contemporary social challenges of sanitation, climate change and
environmental degradation, social media and technology misuse, unhealthy living, and non-compliance of civic responsibilities. OWOP curriculum provides
space for learners to further explore their immediate world ─ homes ─ and other worlds – the people and their interconnectedness. It provides opportunity
for learners to develop their skills in the 4Rs of Reading, cReativity, wRiting and aRithmetic through thematic and creative approaches of learning. Learning and
learning progression are central to the OWOP curriculum. Therefore, OWOP is intentionally introduced to create space within the school curriculum for
learners to build on their pre-school experience and by doing so, enhance the learners’ curiosity, critical thinking and problem-solving skills and competences
of: personal development and leadership, communication and collaboration, creativity and innovation, cultural identity and digital literacy.
